Visits

A week ago I got to go back to Virginia to do a few housekeeping things and visit friends and family. It was so great to see people and spend time with my aunt and her family. I miss VA. It was really cool to because we got to go see the Cherry Blossoms. Also, we did a few service projects together as a family and friends to help a few deserving people in Haiti so it was awesome! Here are some pics from that.

My sister came to visit me here in Haiti. She flys for free so she was able to just come for a quick weekend. It was really great to be able to share my experience with someone. I can show as many pictures as possible, but it just really doesn't do justice. I was able to deliver some things that some people in VA helped me put together and she was able to be apart of that. I love how even simple things here can bring happiness and smiles to the faces of these sweet children and people. Sometimes I look at this country and it overwhelms me. The tragedy, the trials, and pains of these people just consumes me and overwhelms me. One of the talks from Conference I thought was so great. President Eyring talked of how God has heard the prayers of those who have sought food, or clothes, or employment. He has heard them from the beginning of time. He has provided for his children and today that is why we have the church welfare program. Many have been blessed by this great and inspired program. For this, Im grateful. I am grateful for this wonderful gospel that encourages its members to serve and help others. I feel so blessed to be able to serve in some small way here. For surely it brings me the greatest blessings and the greatest happiness. These situations and these children are brining me such joy and such an appreciation for my blessed life. Here is some photos from my sisters visit. A short video will be shown later to show all the wonderful people who helped me get some things together for people here to see who they were able to help and make smile:)

So as I've said life in Haiti is not Easy..Here are some pictures from my travels on Saturday! This shows the reality of Port Au Prince!!
The view from one of the places I went today..Pretty great eh? It made me Smile

Nothing Ceases to Amaze me or Suprise me here...This makes me Smile:)

The traffic does not always make me smile!

So, we went to Lesley's orphange on Saturday. This made me very excited! It was the first place I ever went with Rebecca and just absolutley fell in love with a few of the kids here. Undo was not himself today which was one of the kids. He along with a bunch of other kids were sick with the chickenpox. Poor kids with no relief. He was not a happy camper but he just came and sat with me and cuddled with me. So, hopefully I offered the poor kid some sort of comfort! Today was cool too because Marilyn came along. She is an older lady who was here on a visit. She was very kind and it was fun to see her excitement and expressions. It reminded me of myself when I first arrived. Also, I have a new American friend which is exciting. He is a 27 year old returned missionary. He is living with Rebecca for an undetermined amount of time. He speaks Kreyole because he spoke it on his mission. So, it was fun to have him to talk with and have him actually understand me and my life. Kind of refreshing!! Anyway, here are some pictures/video from Saturday.....Soooo Cute...If these kids don't bring smiles to your faces then I don't know what will:)
All the kids surrounded us that makes me smile!

Serge on the Brain

So, there is this super adorable family.......The Serge Family

I can not get them off my mind. All week I have just been thinking about them. They are so sweet and so kind and they don't have much. They are the same people I spoke of in Humility and their humble abode. Yet, they are so happy. This sweet family is very close to my heart. The rainy season is beginning soon so it has been raining at night. This makes me think of them and how they are in their little cement home with no real protection from the rain. So, I just imagine this little family all together enduring the rain literally but also just the storms of life. You know they might not have a lot of material possessions but in so many ways i think they might be better off. They know whats really important. I just love them all they are sooo cute! on Sunday I continually was hugging on the little boy on the right. After Sacrament meeting each child came up and gave me a kiss on the cheek. I was endearing and i just love love this little family!
